Description

The SCM820 by Shure is an 8-Channel Digital IntelliMix Automatic Mixer with comprehensive controls, and enhanced I/O support. This mixer was specifically designed for use in speech applications, including sound reinforcement, broadcasting and audio recording. Featuring IntelliMix technology that offers a dramatic increase in improving audio quality in any application where multiple microphones are required and to select channels to open to the mix bus, while attenuating other channels. This mixing technology can deliver seamless automatic mixing with a reduced background noise through dynamic channel gating and uses NAT (Noise Adaptive Threshold) which continuously adjusts the activation threshold for opening a channel. Equally a part of the IntelliMix technology is LMLO (last Mic Lock-on) that will keep the most recently activated mircophone open until another microphone is activated, and MaxBus that ensures that only one channel is opened per sound source, reducing comb filtering for clear and intelligible speech. Intellimix modes offer five different mixed mode presets of reliable automixing styles (Classic, Smooth, Extreme, Custom, or Manual) to quickly tailor the mix for a particular application. Comes with a logic-enabled block connector with 8 inputs.

Enhanced I/O support is another prime quality touted in this professional grade digital automatic mixer. Beyond the logic-enabled block connectors with 8 inputs, users will also enjoy, per-channel direct outputs that allows the mixer to be used as an insert processor. As well you can mix A and B outputs with selectable mic or line level connect to a sound reinforcement system, mixing console, or recording device. In dual mixer operation mode the mixer enables routing of independent automixes to the mix A and B outputs, allowing two entirely different mixes to result from the same set of inputs. For channel solo and mix monitoring there is a 1/4" stereo headphone output for users to tap into, and Aux inputs on both the front and back panel to easily connect to media players.

Control of the SCM820 is quite comprehensive, with a wide arrange of control types and options to choose from. Channel control knobs allow quick adjustment of gain, limiter, and EQ settings, and solo/mute functions on the input channels. LED meter rings display input audio or IntelliMix gain levels for each channel, and output mix controls and meters enable front-panel master gain and limiter control as well as signal monitoring. Furthermore Shure has designed this model to use browser-based control software which delivers an even further comprehensive software control monitoring, routing, and configuration of all signals and settings and adds a parametric  8-band EQ. Advanced networking solutions include a standard Ethernet networked audio configuration, and the control system is equally compatible with AMX & Crestron.
